Flashing and Sealants
Where envelopes actually fail
Field cladding rarely leaks. Envelopes fail at transitions — where the wall meets a window, a roof, a balcony, a penetration, or a dissimilar material. Those interfaces are what flashing and sealant work exists to solve.
We install through-wall and transition flashings, end dams, drip edges, and head and sill details so water that gets behind the finish is collected and directed back out.
- Through-wall and transition flashing
- Head, sill, jamb, and end dam detailing
- Joint sizing, backer rod, and bond breakers
- Silicone, urethane, and hybrid sealants
- Sealant replacement on existing buildings
- Dissimilar material transitions
Scope
Joint design and material selection
Sealant joints are sized and detailed for the movement they actually have to accommodate, with correct backer rod, bond-breaker, and joint geometry — a two-sided adhesion joint, not a three-sided one.
We select silicone, urethane, and hybrid sealants for the substrates, exposure, and expected movement of each joint rather than defaulting to one product across a whole building.
